PLANWEL First Project PLANWEL Institute of Science & Technology:

PLANWEL Institute of Science & Technology is a dedicated manpower training and research and development institution of higher learning, offering practical, useful, effective and made-to-measure degree and non-degree, Continuing Education training, testing and skill assessment of employees for companies and institutions. It forms part of a new generation of Training Centers committed to personalized training, through the use of many varied pedagogical and technological resources. PLANWEL’s aim is to provide a high-quality service to those wishing to join the labor market, offering them the opportunity of obtaining the qualifications needed to meet the current demand.

PLANWEL has been awarded the status of an ALCoS business partner jointly by the University Grants Commission and the Pakistan Software Export Board Ministry of Communication Government Of Pakistan with the responsibility of establishing institute for training Information Technology workforce of international standards which will assist the Software export program of the government of Pakistan.

This Institute of higher learning has been equipped to train students in the field of Information Technology on a laboratory and lecture format. However, PLANWEL now intend to upgrade and modernize the educational delivery and gradually convert this Institute to a distance learning/virtual university (POP – Point Of Presence).

The members of the Board of Management of PLANWEL are a highly motivated group of professionals belonging to various fields of, computer software, hardware telecommunications, engineering, design, architecture, city and regional planning, management, accounting economics, management etc. and are assisting by setting up training centers in information technology and building of data bases for the government industry, trade and commerce. It is merely a direct commitment of professionals towards upgrading the quality of underprivileged masses in the developing Countries under the changing scenario of Globalization.

Asia City Online Navigational Project:

The project ASIA_CITY: "On-line Navigational Environmental City Information / ASIA-CITY", falls under the framework of the European Programme "Liaise with European IT&C initiatives and programmes". It was implemented by a consortium of organizations belonging to 5 Asian – Pakistan, India, Nepal, Brunei, Vietnam and two European countries- Greece and Germany to prepare a, GIS based Software know as Asia_City. The lead partner being the National Technical University of Athens. PLANWEL, represented Pakistan. The results of the project were presented in a series of seminars in Pakistan organized by the EC delegation in Pakistan and the Pakistan Software Export Board, the focal point in Pakistan.

Sylvan Prometric Online Testing Center:

PLANWEL is a Premium Plus Partner and is an Authorized Prometric Testing Center, and is offering Computer Based Testing (CBT) services for students and individuals who like to be tested for Continuing Education Certification Programs with major vendors such as Microsoft Corporation, Oracle Corporation and Cisco USA. As a Premier Plus Partner with Sylvan Prometric, PLANWEL will soon have the expertise of testing the skills as per the Skill Assessment Test (SAT) computer program. This would enable employers, institutions and others to get the skills tested of their employee in any particular area of computer software.

Pakistan Library Network:

http://www.PLANWEL.edu/Research/libraries.html - an electronic access network of all the regional libraries for furthering research and development; as per the mission statement of PLANWEL for Building Technology Based Communities and Bringing Technology to the People. It is an effort to ensure that all underprivileged communities in the region have equal access to information. For this PLANWEL is also mirroring on its server a database of world libraries LIBweb http://www.PLANWEL.edu/Libweb/libweb-mirror/ maintained by University of California Berkley and Sun Microsystems, Inc.

Drake Authorized Testing Center:

PLANWEL has been designated as the the first site for a DATC in Pakistan in order to conduct tests as per international certification standards for the Call center personell. These tests are internationally recognized as the industry standards.
